Tuesday's School Construction Bond Referenda: Some facts
Throughout New Jersey, voters approved $401.5 million, or approximately 48 percent, of proposed school construction projects on the ballot Tuesday in 38 school districts, according to the New Jersey School Boards Association. Of the approved amount, nearly $109.4 million is eligible for state funding under the Educational Facilities Construction and Financing Act of 2000.

Several communities had multiple questions on the ballot Tuesday. In total, voters acted on 49 construction questions and approved 27, or 55.1 percent, of the proposals — the lowest rate of approval for construction plans since enactment of the Educational Facilities Construction and Financing Act of 2000.

The $837.8 million proposed on the ballot Tuesday represented the largest number of construction proposals presented to voters on a single day and the largest dollar amount, according to NJSBA[excerpt from 10-2-05 Asbury Park Press].
