TRENTON — Voters in several New Jersey towns have shown they're in no mood to raise taxes.

They defeated seven of the nine school construction projects up for votes in communities across the state Tuesday.

The only two that were adopted were to replace the roof and install solar panels at Cumberland Regional High School, and to replace part of a roof at the elementary school in Sussex County's Montague.

Proposals were defeated in Wood-Ridge, Pennsauken, Edison, Jackson, High Point, Knowlton and Washington Borough.

All the projects were eligible for state subsidies if they had passed.
